Donald Trump has made a career of being a con man. He can look people in the eye, say anything, and they believe it.

Just writing those words does two things. It breaks my heart. And it riles up a number of readers.

We all know that a con is a confidence game. It is a swindle. Wifi hotspot adapter for pc free download. The con is where someone takes advantage of someone else's trust. A con artist scams people out of their money.

The perfect con is where victims don't even realize they’ve been had. Victims are called dupes. That's people who are easily deceived. Those who enable the con are called shills.

This past weekend we witnessed the ultimate con.

Trump believes you and I are dupes. His shills on Fox News enable his con.

Here is how it worked.

America is in trouble. Unemployment is above 10%. Over 5 million people are infected with a dangerous coronavirus. More than 170,000 people have died. Americans are split politically and are at each other’s throats. Kindness and mutual respect are out the window. Kids cannot go safely to school. Unemployment benefits have run out. People cannot pay their rent, car payments or feed themselves. Even working Americans are hungry for money.

To make matters worse, the federal government has been trapped into burning through cash with the debt soaring by trillions of dollars. This is due to the Trump tax cuts for big corporations. You know what happens when you spend money you don’t have.

Trump has blamed the deficit on entitlement programs for people who do not pay taxes. The elderly. The poor. The disabled. Those who benefit from Social Security and Medicare.

And Trump has railed against these entitlements since before he ran for office in 2016. His comments have been reported by every major media outlet. Trump has promised repeatedly to reduce the costs of Social Security and Medicare which means cutting benefits or eliminating the programs altogether.

People need money. People want to pay less taxes. And Trump’s supporters in large part prefer a few dollars more in their pockets than to pay Social Security and Medicare taxes.

This background sets up the perfect con.

Trump signed Executive Orders the first weekend in August. One of those orders defers collection of payroll taxes. These are the taxes that fund Social Security and Medicare.

Yes, Congress sets the tax rate, appropriates and directs the use of funds, but the Executive Branch (Trump) collects the money through the IRS. Trump has authority over the IRS. Although the Executive Order is temporary through the end of the year, Trump announced at the signing that he will make the Executive Order permanent if he is reelected. The IRS will not be collecting these taxes.

The con is this. Trump is not taking direct action against Social Security and Medicare. Rather he is adding some money to the payroll checks of some workers. Who will argue with that?

Everyone who gets a few dollars more in their checks will be happy. As a result of happy workers, Trump will be reelected.

Then when the money runs out for Social Security and Medicare, Trump will be solidly entrenched in a second term. He will blame the default on Congress, libtards, Democrats.

So why the con? You need to understand the math involved.

Payroll taxes apply to workers making up to $137,700 per year. Every payday 7.65% of the wages paid are deducted from each paycheck (6.2% for Social Security and 1.45% for Medicare). For someone making $15 per hour, the payroll tax savings are about $185 per month.

There are some people who do not benefit from this tax break. The unemployed, the retired, those reliant on Social Security and Medicare, stay-at-home-parents, the unemployed. Those who may not vote for Trump anyway.

And here is the con. Those who benefit from this Executive Order are the big business interests that Trump serves. How? For every dollar workers pay in payroll taxes, each employer must match and pay an equivalent amount of tax.

So, Google, for example, has 118,000 employees who may make on average $50,000 per year, each employee will save about $3,825 annually in payroll taxes. Google’s bottom line will rise by $451 million annually in matching taxes it will no longer pay into the Social Security and Medicare fund.

Now if you look at a handful of other companies who have supported Trump with mega dollars, you can see how much money is involved.

Sheldon Adelson is getting a return on his investment in Trump. Adelson contributed $25 million to Trump's presidential campaign and $45 million more to the Republican party in 2016. This year he committed another $100 million contribution. So what did he get for his money? The bottom line of his LasVegas Sands/Venetian business may increase by $220 million per year by not paying the payroll tax for Social Security and Medicare. (This on top of the large income tax cut Trump put in place for large corporations like Adelson’s.)

Other major supporters of Trump are looking at huge payroll tax reductions as well.

Disney will save $853 million per year.

CVS will save $776 million per year.

Goya’s profit may rise by $15 million per year resulting from the payroll tax savings.

Even Fox News gets a $7 million per year gift from Trump, while its owner, News Corp, adds $38 million per year.

And while the Social Security and Medicare programs lose their source of revenue, the Trump Organization pockets perhaps $86 million per year in Social Security tax savings.

Trump says this tax deferment will be made permanent if he is reelected.

Trump expects that he can con people into supporting his ordering the IRS not to collect payroll taxes. After all, these dupes will get a little money added to their checks. And his Fox News and Trump Organization shills think his con is brilliant. After all, they benefit like kings.

Then by sleight of hand, Social Security and Medicare die for lack of tax funding.

Is that OK with you?

Social Security and Medicare were meant for protecting elderly and disabled Americans. Trump couldn't care less. His loyalty is to his big-money shills.. even to the extent of ripping Social Security and Medicare from those who deserve it most.
